FACING CHALLENGES - OBAMA, SATYAM & FEDERER

To tell you the truth, I thought about starting a blog two months ago but my exams kept me busy. Engineering can be painful sometimes. So, when i came back to college after holidays, i thought to do something about it. So here i am writing my first article for my blog. With a lot of important things happening in the world right now from the swearing of America's new superstar president to the economic crisis which is of great concern for me as well as other engineering students to the Australian Open there is plenty to write about.
There has been enormous hype surrounding MR.Obama since he managed to defeat Hillary Clinton and followed it up in the presidential elections. He has always made the right noises but with two long fought wars and a crumbling economy, there will be no dearth of situations which will surely test him and his ability to walk the talk. He will also find out unfortunately that reining in Pakistan requires more than a few stern warnings. But he will have to walk a very fine line on the Kashmir issue and he will only irk the Indians if he gets very adventurous.
As If the the global recession wasn't enough of a jolt, the Satyam issue has really taken the Indian IT industry by storm. As for our seniors throughout the country this is the worst time to be a final year student. The government has constituted a new board which includes respectable names as Deepak Parekh. With the bailout plan in the cold storage and no potential buyers, the immediate future looks very bleak. Hopefully the smart people at the top level will get the industry out of this mess soon.
On the sports front, one of the most interesting grand slams in recent years is being played in Australia. The odds are hugely distributed between the new fab four but anyone who is betting against Federer must be careful as by winning the U.S Open, he has proved that he may not win everything in his way any longer but he is still the player to beat and by the virtue of his effortless ( compared to others)game will be so for the years to come.
