THE GENIUS OF A.R.REHMAN

Well, the good news has just come in. The Oscars nominations are out with Slumdog Millionaire getting 10 nominations. Although the list is led by Brad Pitt starrer The Curious Case of Benjamin Button but the odds are in favor of Slumdog to bag more awards eventually. And to the joy of several A.R.Rehman fans like me, he has got three nominations-one for original score and two for original song and there is a great chance of him winning in both the categories.I have been a fan of this great musician since i heard the music of Roja and the man has never stopped to amaze me.Whenever you think "This is it.He is not going to do better than this." he comes out with greater songs. Here is a list of my most favorite songs of him.
1.Tu hi re-Bombay
2.Nahi saamne tu-Taal
3.Chal chaiya-Dil Se
4.Ishq bina kya-Taal
5.O Saya-Slumdog Millionaire
6.Roja-Roja
7.Aaja shaam hui-Rang De Basanti
8.O Jaana-Delhi6
9.Dil ko-RHTDM
9.O mitwa-Lagaan
10.Kaise mujhe-Ghajini
Hopefully there will be plenty of modifications in this list and the maestro will continue to make the world hum his songs.Amen!

FACING CHALLENGES - OBAMA, SATYAM & FEDERER

To tell you the truth, I thought about starting a blog two months ago but my exams kept me busy. Engineering can be painful sometimes. So, when i came back to college after holidays, i thought to do something about it. So here i am writing my first article for my blog. With a lot of important things happening in the world right now from the swearing of America's new superstar president to the economic crisis which is of great concern for me as well as other engineering students to the Australian Open there is plenty to write about.
There has been enormous hype surrounding MR.Obama since he managed to defeat Hillary Clinton and followed it up in the presidential elections. He has always made the right noises but with two long fought wars and a crumbling economy, there will be no dearth of situations which will surely test him and his ability to walk the talk. He will also find out unfortunately that reining in Pakistan requires more than a few stern warnings. But he will have to walk a very fine line on the Kashmir issue and he will only irk the Indians if he gets very adventurous.
As If the the global recession wasn't enough of a jolt, the Satyam issue has really taken the Indian IT industry by storm. As for our seniors throughout the country this is the worst time to be a final year student. The government has constituted a new board which includes respectable names as Deepak Parekh. With the bailout plan in the cold storage and no potential buyers, the immediate future looks very bleak. Hopefully the smart people at the top level will get the industry out of this mess soon.
On the sports front, one of the most interesting grand slams in recent years is being played in Australia. The odds are hugely distributed between the new fab four but anyone who is betting against Federer must be careful as by winning the U.S Open, he has proved that he may not win everything in his way any longer but he is still the player to beat and by the virtue of his effortless ( compared to others)game will be so for the years to come.
