OBAMA : THE BUBBLE IS BURSTING

SO, it has been around two months since Barack Obama became the president of U.S.A. The people are still in awe of him, perhaps waiting in earnest for his magic to occur. He has taken some tough decisions to get his country out of the economic mess. The decision of No foreign workers for the companies he has bailed out was expected (even if unwanted by companies ), he has passed out a number of bills and stimulus packages to pump money in the markets and one would say he is doing good if not exceptional on the domestic front.

But even his supporters (or fans) will agree that there is no sign of changes he promised to make. The stance of America on Iraq is more or less same as that of the Bush administration. He has opted for the same defence secretary which does brings a bit of a doubt.

Even on the Afghanistan front there is hardly any practical change of approach. Theoretically, its Af-Pak now but he is watching silently that his so called most important ally in the so called War on Terror is slowly but definitely falling in the hands of Taliban. The takeover of SWAT region by Taliban and the recent whipping of a Pakistani girl in public provide evidences how the extremists are taking over Pakistan. The government is highly incapable and helpless to stop them as the army is not willing to destroy what is nurtured for so long.

But, even though his country is fighting a difficult if not lost war against Af-pak, our Hero Mr. Obama is too busy appearing on television even for the tiniest of ( and sometimes for none ) reasons. Even his ardent supporters have said that they are fedup of watching him on their screens.

The just concluded G-20 Summit which took place between as much anticipation as protests, had Obama very much busy smiling on cameras with the new fashion icon of the world Michelle Obama produced some positive results with all members agreeing to contribute 1 Trillion Dollar which will be used to give support for the recession hit countries. But later he was given little support by NATO allies when they were asked to increase troops in Afghanistan.

But in the end he really tried to impress everyone by presenting his dream of a nuclear free world. But has he stopped and thought the feasibility of the idea. And how hypocritical it sounds when the country with highest number of n-weapons and the only country to ever attack any other country by nuclear weapons talks about a nuclear free world.

Sometimes it feels like he does everything for publicity and that if true really will be devastating for him, his supporters and most importantly his country and the world. When its time for U.S.A to lead the world in these tough times, it is going in its shell. The world needs strong leadership at the moment so MR.Obama needs to show as much strong character as he showed in overcoming Hillary Clinton and really back up his claims of ‘change’ to keep the ‘HOPE’ alive.
